Valladolid is located in northwestern part of Spain in North-Central Iberian Peninsula. It is 150 km North from Madrid and has a population of about 3 million. It is located at the centre of the Meseta Norte plateau which is drained by the Duero river basin.The climate of the region is influenced by higher altitude and the distance from the sea. It has a continentalized hot-summer Mediterranean climate with influence of cold semi-arid climate. Valladolid has cool and windy winters with occasional snow and low temperatures below freezing during cold fronts. The summer months experiences an average high temperatures of 30 °C and episodic Saharan dust events also influence the weather of the region.
