Precision Spectroradiometer (PSR)

The PSR was developed at PMOD/WRC to upgrade and complement the filter-based PFR sun-photometer. AOD and trace gas values can be measured over a continuous wavelength range of 320-1040 nm.

Precision Filter Radiometer (PFR)

A second generation of Precision Filter Radiometers (PFR) was developed at PMOD/WRC to secure the continuous operation of the GAW-PFR and other networks for the foreseeable future.

Infrared Cloud Camera (IRCCAM)

IRCCAM measures the thermal emission of the atmosphere in the 8 – 14 µm wavelength range in order to determine the fractional cloud-cover during day and night, as opposed to visible cloud cameras . . .

Universal Instrument Adapter (UIA)

The Universal Instrument Adapter is an adapter mount, developed at the PMOD/WRC, which serves as an adjustable connection between the measurement instrument and the solar tracker.

Ventilation Heating System (VHS)

The Ventilation and Heating System (VHS) is designed for unattended routine operation of pyranometers and pyrgeometers under all weather conditions. The VHS, which is mounted below the lower plate . . .

PMO6-cc Absolute Cavity Radiometer

The PMO6-cc has been updated and is now available from Davos Instruments (www.davos-instruments.ch) as the PMO8 model. Although manufacture of the PMO6-cc has been discontinued, calibration services for all pyrheliometers are still assured by PMOD/WRC. Repair and maintenance is now conducted by Davos Instruments.

Instruments and Accessories

Wide-ranging experience in the measurement of solar radiation relies on the development of our own instruments, in which the PMOD/WRC has a long history. Various instruments are of interest to partner institutions mainly in the meteorology and metrology communities. Instruments such as the Absolute Radiometer PMO6-cc or the Precision Filter Radiometer (PFR) are well-known and are in operation throughout the whole world, while the Precision Spectroradiometer (PSR) is our latest development.

Due to the available facilities, PMOD/WRC is able to develop, design and manufacture instruments in-house, although not in large quantities. Our focus is on providing reliable instruments with high accuracy and long-term stability. Together with the PMOD/WRC calibration capabilities, our instruments allow high quality and traceable radiation measurements. In addition, we offer several useful accessories to operate our own or third-party instruments.
